Adventure #159: Village Park Restaurant (Petaling Jaya)

I have heard a lot about the Nasi Lemak at Village Park but never made it there because it is always crowded.  Crowded during meal times and crowded during weekends.  So, today before we leave to take our flight to Koh Samui for some R&R, we decided to give it a try.  We arrived mid morning on a Monday (cannot get more of- peak than this) for brunch.  Lots of seats and we were able to eat leisurely.

I had to try its most famous dish - Nasi Lemak with Goreng Ayam (crispy fried chicken).  The fried chicken was delicious.  Sambal was also good. No sure I would come in peak time for this though.

G preferred to have his standard Malaysian breakfast - 2 half boiled eggs with coffee (at the back) and......

The older one has been dreaming of Ipoh Ho fan ever since our Malaysian road trip last year. So, this is what she had.  For a restaurant specializing in Malay food, its Ipoh Ho Fan was surprisingly good. 

And the older one also had a Milo Dinosaur! What a fun drink. Only in Malaysia!

Adventure #51: Valentine Roti (KL)

Flew into KL today for a week-long Easter break and fully intend to document most of the food eaten on this trip - this time with the help of my brother.  First stop, Valentine Roti - who claims to make the best roti canai in town.

Luckily this is the only thing they claim coz this may be the only  thing they have! And definitely don't expect any service!

The roti was very different from the usual ones we have. It was thin and fluffy - less doughy.  A healthier version of roti??? Maybe; but I still prefer the traditional ones.

Adventure #38: Restaurant Kayu (SS2)

We were back in KL for CNY week.  Most days and nights were dominated by meals with family. Today, kids were with cousins and we were left on our own.  Was going to try Roti Canai (my favourite food) at Valentines but G was sure about the location, so we went to Kayu at SS2 instead.  There are many Kayu around town but G said that this one is consistently the best.


It was the second day of CNY, most Chinese eateries were closed, so Kayu was packed.  The food took a while to come because our young waiter kept getting the orders wrong!



The plain roti with dhal is still my favourite

I also ordered the fried maggie mee which is good but texture-wise, I think the 公仔麵 in HK is better

The tandoori chicken was good but the presentation was .. er .. a bit weird

Then we had a tosse (not sure how to spell) which I didn't quite like

Kayu is also famous for its Nasi Kandar but too full to order anymore.  Next time when I am in town......
