Adventure #13: 瑞記咖啡

A rainy Sunday! Trip to Big Wave Bay Beach downed the drain.  Thought we'd take the kids to some where different - a local food place in Sheung Wan Cooked Food Center (or what we call Hawker Center).

Parked the car by the street behind the Sheung Wan Market and tried to get to the cooked food center from the back.  Big-ish mistake.  For those of you who have not been to a HK 街市, the layout is normally as such - wet market on the G/F and/or 1/F and cooked food center on the top floor, in this case 2/F. The escalator to the cooked food center was not working, so we took the lift which only stopped at the 1/F. We had to walk through the wet market to get to our destination.

The little one kept covering her nose and complained of the smell, although half way through she was absolutely fascinated by the man cleaning out a cow's head that she momentarily forgotten about the smell.  The older one just quietly tolerated the journey.  Luckily, when we got to the 2/F, the place was clean and air-conditioned. Phew!!!

Finally, we made it to 瑞記, an old style HK "tea place".

Since this is a 茶餐廳, it serves the usual local food such as milk tea, instant noodles, toast etc. We ordered instant noodles for the kids (sadly, this is their favourite food) and we had the beef and egg sandwich 鹹牛肉蛋治 washed down with the bottled milk tea.  The sandwich is ok but the bottled milk tea is very cool.

And the damage........in this inflationary environment......only HK$112!
