Adventure #64: Hameediyah Restaurant (Penang)

After eating street food for a couple of days, the little one said she does not want to eat in "dirty places" anymore! Well, that's a tough one coz Penang is, after all, famous for its street food! So, as a compromise, we took them to an Indian Muslim restaurant tonight.

Hameediyah Restaurant is said to serve the best murtabak in Malaysia.  Murtabak is minced meat (beef or mutton) shaped into a patty and cooked and then then wrapped in roti canai dough.

While we were walking along the street looking for Hameediyah, we also noticed another fully air-con restaurant with the same name.  It was rather empty and didn't seem to have the right feel (too clean!), so we moved on. Make sure you go to the right one!

Hameediyah is also well known for its Nasi Kandar

A selection of curry sauce for our roti and murtabak

My first murtabak!

With the curry it tasted really good.  However, I am not a fan of murtabak, I still prefer plain roti.

Hameediyah also claims to serve the best biryani in Penang. We ordered a chicken biryani for the older one.  We thought it was a bit dry but the older one loved it.

The little one had plain roti and tandoori chicken.  G thought the tandoori chicken was a far cry from his usual mamak joint, Kayu in SS2 PJ.

The plain roti looked so good, I ordered one for myself.  With the excellent curry sauce, I think this is best roti I have had for some time.  Certianly prefer this to Valentine Roti.
